ABOUT

Déjà Rollins is a media scholar, educator, and former broadcast professional whose work sits at the intersection of media, identity, and emotional experience. Before entering academia, she was behind the microphone working in radio and in front of the camera reporting and producing nightly television news. This is where she developed the storytelling instincts that now shape her teaching and research.

Today, Déjà bridges the gap between industry and the classroom, helping students critically understand media systems while equipping them with the communication skills necessary to thrive within them.

Her work explores how social media shapes emotional and cognitive experiences, particularly within marginalized communities, and how identity influences the ways audiences seek out and engage with uplifting or harmful media content.

As an award-winning teacher, she is known for creating interactive learning environments that encourage students to connect theory with real-world media practice.
